Volusia's volunteer lawyers deserve thanks for good jobs

Re: "Mortgage scam ends in deed's return," Area Section, July 21.

As senior citizens coordinator for Central Florida Legal Services Inc., I believe it is wonderful to see how the agencies in our community work together to help our senior citizens, especially in such a horrific scam as reported. Fortunately, the victim's neighbors alerted CFLS about his problem, and CFLS was able to stop the mortgage foreclosure.

Attorney Bruce Hanna has given many hours to our Volunteer Lawyers Project; and through his dedication to our community, Mr. Hanna did a superb job for Mr. Henry Roth, who was victimized by his "caretaker," a person he trusted. Mr. Hanna received no fee for his representation, as is the case with the many attorneys in the Volusia County Bar Association when they take cases pro bono through the Volunteer Lawyers Project of Central Florida Legal Services Inc.

Many citizens of Volusia County would not be able to have legal representation if it were not for the hours given, at no charge, to the Volunteer Lawyers Project by the area attorneys.

Thanks to The News-Journal for the story, and thanks to all the volunteer lawyers in Volusia County for Jobs well done.
