On September 7, 2005, attorney Thomas J. Leek of Cobb & Cole presented a small business seminar in conjunction with the Daytona Beach/Halifax Area Chamber of Commerce on the importance to employers of appropriately classifying employees as employees that are exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, or non-exempt (hourly) employees. The group discussed the ever-increasing number of lawsuits arising out of the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, and ways to avoid such litigation.
