Frederick (Rick) Karl
Frederick (Rick) Karl has over 40 years of law practice and business management experience and has earned the highest AV Preeminent® rating by Martindale-Hubbell® attorney rating system. He has an extensive history of providing innovative and sound solutions for complex matters and has represented all levels of businesses from small start-ups to publicly traded companies.
Mr. Karl left the firm in the 1980’s to become the Vice President and General Counsel to a software firm that would grow to become Medical Manager Corporation (NASDAQ: MMGR). As chief legal officer of the company as it conducted its initial public offering, a secondary public offering, over 170 acquisitions of the independent software vendors, and its ultimate merger with WebMD Corporation.
His government experience includes service as the City Attorney for the City of South Daytona, Assistant County Attorney for Volusia County, and Director of Aviation and Economic Resources for Volusia County. Mr. Karl served as the Airport Director for the Daytona Beach International Airport for over a decade where he oversaw more than $93 million in capital improvements, record growth in passenger traffic, and the complete renovation of the passenger terminal.
Mr. Karl returned to the firm in November 2021 and his practice includes administrative law, aviation law, general corporate law, local government law, dispute resolution, and mediation.
